H II regions and high-mass starless clump candidates

چکیده

The ionization feedback from HII regions modifies the properties of high-mass starless clumps (HMSCs, several hundred to a few thousand solar masses with size ~0.1-1 pc), such as temperature and turbulence, on clump scale. question whether presence core-scale fragmentation star formation in HMSCs remains be explored. We aim investigate difference 0.025 pc-scale between candidate that are strongly impacted by less disturbed ones. also search for evidence mass shaping induced HMSCs. Using ALMA 1.3 mm continuum resolution ~1.3", we imaged eight HMSCs, including four another situated quiet environment. less-impacted selected basis their similar distance compared ones avoid any possible bias linked these parameters. A total 51 cores were detected clumps, three nine each clump. Within our limited sample, did not find clear ~0.025 non-impacted even though seem affect spatial distribution fragmented cores. Both types present thermal two-level hierarchical features at Jeans length ${\lambda_{J, clump}^{th}}$ 0.3${\lambda_{J, clump}^{th}}$. emission morphology AGAL010.214-00.306 AGAL018.931-00.029 sheds light capacities shape gas dust surroundings possibly trigger Future surveys covering large number high turbulence needed confirm trend indicated this study.

High - Mass Starless Cores

We report the identification of a sample of potential High-Mass Starless Cores (HMSCs). The cores were discovered by comparing images of the fields containing candidate High-Mass Protostellar Objects (HMPOs) at 1.2mm and mid-infrared (8.3µm; MIR) wavelengths. While the HMPOs are detected at both wavelengths, several cores emitting at 1.2mm in the same fields show absorption or no emission at th...

Ultracompact H Ii Regions

ABSTRACT We discuss so...

High - resolution imaging of ultracompact H II regions

We present the results of an extensive imaging campaign on the ultracompact Hii region G5.89-0.39 at nearand mid-infrared wavelengths. High-resolution data were taken in the H , K ′, and L bands using ESO’s adaptive optics system ADONIS. They are complemented by conventional narrowband images in Brγ and H2(1−0)S1 as well as by mid-infrared broadand narrow-band images. We also mapped the 1.3 mm ...

Clumpy shocks and the clump mass function

One possible mechanism for the formation of molecular clouds is large scale colliding flows. In this paper, we examine whether clumpy, colliding, flows could be responsible for the clump mass functions that have been observed in several regions of embedded star formation, which have been shown to be described by a Salpeter type slope. The flows presented here, which comprise a population of ini...

Hot High - Mass Accretion Disk Candidates

To better understand the physical properties of accretion disks in high-mass star formation, we present a study of a dozen high-mass accretion disk candidates observed at high spatial resolution with the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) in the high-excitation (4,4) and (5,5) lines of NH 3. All of our originally selected sources were detected in both NH 3 transitions, directly associated...
